5939 East Hastings in the Burnaby area.. kind of down the mountain from SFU.
So I'm really writing this review for my mom. The owner of this restaurant is a close friend of my mom's and it's a family run business.
It's true, the waiter is extremely nice. My mom just called the owner (Lisa) to give him a raise and never to fire him. Hahahh. I normally don't go with my mom to eat dinner here cause there are too few options for a vegetarian. I've never eaten lunch here, only dinner.
My mom comes here to eat dinner with a bunch of her friends often. The service is great, the food is good, it's fairly clean. As their restaurant is named Peking, one of the special dishes for dinner is the peking duck. I think it's originally a Thai dish.. but yeah. It's deep fried peking duck, stripped to just the skin with green onions and a hoisin sauce (it's thick, dark, and sweet). This is suppose to be wrapped in something close to a steamed dumpling wrap. It's pretty good (quote my mom, I'm vegetarian). They also have another Thai dish, which is a mixture of chopped up deep fried veggies, ground beef (I think?), and thin vermicelli, all put into a lettuce wrap with some hoisin sauce. It's not bad, but from the looks of it, it's a tad oily.
I will go try the food at lunch after school some time..and say hello to the owner too.
