I work in the area and was looking for a regular lunch spot. As I've tried the Sushi Go at Bute already I thought I would give Domo's a try. Boy was that a bad decision.
I came into the place, and was greeted by a Chinese lady.. trying to speak in Japanese. She asked me if I wanted take out or sit in, and I said for take out. She passed me a menu and proceeded to talk to the chef in Cantonese really loudly and was trying to train this new employee. I speak Cantonese as well.. and the lady was extremely irritable and wasn't treating the new employee very nicely to start off with. I just felt bad for the new woman about to start working at Domo's.
The food came out pretty quickly, I'll give them that. Cause no one else was in the store anyways. They seem to do mostly take out. The rolls are about 2.50 and up, but even at that price, the value is only mediocre cause the sushi tasted so bad.
I ordered the usual yam tempura roll and avocado roll. Okay. Here it goes. Worst sushi ever. The rice was too moist and mushy, and too little of it coating the outside of the sushi. It was also inconsistently seasoned, so that after I ate one piece the next piece would taste like it had a lot of vinegar in it. The avocados they used are too ripe.. like they've been there for a couple of days. Oh god, the yam tempura roll was awful. The yam itself was overcooked, and there was no batter before they deepfried it. It was just like, sliced and dumped in oil so it's this soaked oily thin layer of stuff. It was just bad. And the portions were very small. I don't know if it's an off day, but that was horrible. I ended up visiting my other work place and going to Momo Sushi on Bidwell to get a new sushi order.
The store itself looked kind of clean. Kind of sketchy. The washroom is like.. also their storage room or something.
Not recommended at all and will not return.
