I came back to give them another couple of tries to make a better review, plus the owner here is very nice and one of the girls at the counter is very friendly.
From my previous review, I complained about the maki style avocado rolls (which is not what most other sushi joints do), really badly made yam tempura (which is STILL a problem- sticks of yam to batter ratio is like 1:1) and their poorly seasoned rice, which I think is still a problem. Since then, I've changed back to eating meat. So I gave the chopped scallop roll a try. The actual scallop is good, but VERY minimal. It's like, 3/4 rice and 1/4- but my coworker advised me this varies hugely between sushi chefs. Chicken dynamite roll is probably their best I think, it's pretty good- not traditional sushi though, more westernized cause it's flavoured with sauce on top really. The Alaska roll is okay, nothing wrong with ingredients here but I found it too mushy (salmon and avocado). Dynamite roll is just mediocre, same goes for California roll. The yam tempura is still an issue for me though.
The place looks clean with modern furniture, so I'll give them that. If I order anything, it'll be the chicken dynamite roll. The prawn one is okay too. The pricing is expected, considering that it's in the downtown area- around 2.50-3.50 for most rolls.
