DEFINITELY RECOMMENDED: Chada Thai

So dinehere.ca won't let me post this on their site because it's Canadian based, so this will be an exclusive blog to my personal food blogger. There's another Chada Thai restaurant that I posted before that's in Coquitlam, but I don't think the one I'm about to write about is connected to it in any way.

Chada Thai is located just across the borders in Blaine, Washington at 825 Peace Portal Drive. Both my bf and I agreed that just going to this restaurant is well worth the wait at the borders and the drive down. That's how good it is.

Sure, the place is in serious need of a renovation, new seats, deco, paint, tables, everything. It looks a little old. But it does have a great view of the water and boats. The owners are a little odd and we had a bit of a language barrier. Both owners spoke Thai and not much English. Not a problem, they understood the basics of what we wanted. The service was decent and we didn't wait long for our food.

Boyfriend ordered a yellow curry called Gaeng Ga Ree, which had potatoes, shrimp, peanuts, peppers, carrots, onions, etc. Because it was lunch, it also came with rice. They didn't charge for the additional rice we asked for. I had their Pad Kee Mao with tofu which is a spicy rice noodle dish with veggies (broccoli, peppers, onions, carrots, celery). Both dishes were nicely presented. The curry was in a ship shaped plate, with a bit of coleslaw salad for decoration. Mine was on a big round plate also with same decorations. They were nicely portioned too and really fresh ingredients. Cooked perfectly so you don't lose flavours, nutrients, or get soggy veggies.

My dish was nicely spiced, the broccoli was delicious, everything was just yummy. I couldn't stop eating. I would have liked more noodles, but no complaints. There were a LOT of veggies on there. The rice noodles were separated into pieces and not globbed up like other Thai restaurants in Vancouver area. The curry was the best Thai curry I've ever had. The potatoes were soft, carrots and others were not overcooked, and when you tasted the curry, oh man. When you're smelling it and eating it, there's a very fragrant taste. Very aromatic. I've never had that same smell or taste with any other Thai restaurants, it was so special.

Needless to say, I stuffed my face. The dishes weren't expensive either, especially for the portions, quality, and taste of it. Plus they give you options of what veggie/meat/tofu you want in your dish, making it accessible to vegetarians too.

They take Canadian too, just in case you happen to forget your USD. Definitely recommended, a must go if you're going across borders. I will be back for sure.
