Kam Do

8391 Alexander Road in Richmond

I've been here time after time with my family and friends whenever I go to Richmond for lunch or something. The place, I would have to say, has above average food compared to some of the other Hong Kong style cafes.

Like usual, the service is much like other Chinese restaurants. Very brief but efficient, don't have to wait for long to get your order or to come take your order. They come by routinely to refill drinks. And the people are more nice than some of the other Chinese restaurants too.. I noticed sometimes when I go to HK style cafes they have like hostile service or something. So no complaints about that here.

I like the food here, but I mainly gave it a 4 because of the bakery. It has some delicious Chinese pastries (not like your average Maxim or Pinehouse bakery standards) so definitely give it a try. The green bean one is deelish. The lunch menus are good, some variety and the food, like I said, is above your average HK cafes. I haven't had anything bad from here.

The lunch menu is definitely a good value, it's inexpensive with large portions and decent quality (for the price you pay) and also get a drink. Best of all, they give you one free refill! No other place will do that (not that I know of). I have yet to come here for dinner, but lunch is always a good value here.

The look of the place can definitely get an upgrade, but it's not to the point where it just looks like a dump, no worries. But with a bit of a touch up, it would be great. Although the ambiance doesn't really affect much for me, cause I'll definitely be back!
