Chada Thai

2991 Lougheed Highway in Coquitlam.

Boyfriend and I came here with a couple of friends for dinner on New Years Eve. We had no problems getting seats and the service was fine even though the restaurant was busy. Noticed a LOT of people came in to get take out though.

We were given menus and water was refilled without asking. From what I recall others ordered, their curries are okay. The skewers were good. The salad was bad. My boyfriend ordered the yellow curry with rice. I thought it was decent with a good portion size. I ordered a pad thai with a tofu substitute instead of the meat. It was pretty good, not super saucy and presented nicely. What made me only give the food three stars was that they put a cole slaw mix on the side of my dish. Who puts coleslaw on a pad thai dish? I would rather they take out that part and put more noodles in, yeesh. It looked like they took it out of the prepackaged salads. My dish was a good portion size, not to the point where I have to take some of it home. None of us bothered with appies or desserts.

Nice touches: the water had cucumber slices in it. Gave it a more refreshing taste I found.. but some people didn't like it. They should have asked and warned before doing that. The ambiance of the restaurant is nice. Dimly litted, nicely painted, great Thai decorations hanging around and statues too.

Warning: their washrooms apparently are really hot. I quote one of my friends coming back and saying, "Oh my god, it feels like a 100 degrees in there." I have no idea why.
